What can I say...totes are fabulous! They hold anything and everything that a stylish fashionista like you needs to look your best!! Here's a style tip:  put a small clutch inside your tote to hold your everyday necessities like wallet, phone, keys and lipgloss (gotta have the lipgloss ladies!)  This way you can just pull it out and go when you need to dash in to your favorite little boutique or just a night out of fun!

Platform Wedges

O'ma goodness...need I say more! You've waited all year to show off those gorgeous gams so make it count girlfriend!! These platforms are must have for any outfit this summer. They're neutral so the practically go with anything and paired up with a crisp white sundress or shorts and your legs will get all the attention they deserve...and for $89 they're worth it! C'mon...YOU'RE SO WORTH IT!!

Wide Brim Straw Hat - Natural

  I think the floppy wide brim allows for a certain feminine mystique. The natural color is the perfect backdrop to any outfit! Everytime I see a hat like this it makes me wanna slip it on with a cute sundress, flip flops and grab my beach cruiser for a fun little trip around town (mental picture note:  the basket on the front of the bike should be filled with fresh cut flowers....of course!)

A Refreshing Taste of Summer...

Most of us will be enjoying a barbecue in the backyard today while the kids run through the sprinklers and the adults sit around catching up on family memories while sipping a tall glass of iced tea or lemonade. I'm always looking for new and unexpected recipes to add a little pizazz to my "Hostess with the Mostest" title...so here's a refeshing lemonade (with a twist) recipe I stumbled upon and would love to share with you to add to the festivities of your Memorial Day cookout:




WATERMELON LEMONADE - A NEW SUMMERTIME FAVE

Ingredients:

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup water
4 cups cubed watermelon
3 cups cold water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
6 cups ice cubes

Directions:

1. Place the watermelon into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve.

2. Bring sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in 3 cups of cold water and the lemon juice. Divide the ice into 12 glasses, and scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of watermelon puree over the ice, then top with the lemonade. Gently stir before serving. Sip and Enjoy!!

Memorial Day...We're all Blessed!

On this beautiful day full of family get together's & great times made with great memories let us not forget the memory of all those who gave their lives for our freedom and those that are still fighting for it. As we go through our day today...find times throughout the day to say a prayer for those who are seperated from their families and also pray a little prayer of comfort and peace for those who are thinking of their loved ones that gave their lives for us...strangers we'll never meet but through their sacrifice we're given the freedoms to have what we have today. Thank you to all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice! I am forever grateful and you will always be Heros to me!

A Vintage Inspired Spring

Wow!  Spring has sprung!

So.....we are springing into action here at Whimsea Designs!

Here are a few new vintage items that I have found in my travels recently that I want to share with you as I am jumping into my spring & summer line.

Choose Life! Bumps and Babies - A Fundraising Event

Last week, WhimSea Designs had a FABULOUS opportunity to participate in giving back to the community through the first annual "Bumps & Babies" fashion show hosted by Melanie Gladden of Bella Grace, a maternity and baby boutique at The Fountains in Salisbury, Maryland.

Along with WhimSea Designs, nationwide vendors like Mary Kay and Thirty-One, as well as locally owned businesses like Lark on the Boulevard and The Original Smith Island Cake Company, joined in the event to raise funds to help The Life Crisis Center. whose mission is to offer no cost services to victims of violence and abuse.

The excitement was tangible from the moment we arrived to set up with the other vendors. The tables were elegant & tastefully decorated.


Auction items from more than 50 local businesses were sponsored and graced the tables at the center of the vendor area.  Over 10 merchant companies were available, live & in person, to allow participants the opportunity to connect with one-of-a-kind products in a wide variety of genres. 

As the guests arrived, most of who were women, they were able to browse and to purchase gifts or personal items knowing that a percentage of proceeds on their purchases would enable them to give back to those in need.

As everyone gathered for the luncheon, a delicious meal of grilled chicken caesar salad (best I have ever had!) was the perfect choice to offset the yummy Smith Island Cake (oh, you HAVE to visit their website and try one) donated by The Original Smith Island Cake Company.

The REAL fun began when the expectant mommies AND sweet little tikes took the runway by storm.  From 1st to 3rd trimester "bumps" and from infants to 5 year olds, the outfits from Bella Grace and Velvet Pearl were a hit!  Oh yeah, the cute grins, sweet waves, and hilarious poses helped A LOT in making this event a HUGE success!!


WhimSea Designs was so happy to be included in this inaugural event, and we look forward to participating in years to come.
